A politician, who was unsuccessful in his bid in the last parish council election for the Jamaica Labour Party, was formerly charged with murder on Friday afternoon.
He is Lennox Hinds, who ran in the recent election in the Waterford division.
Hinds, who was picked up on Monday, was charged by detectives from the Major Investigation Task Force for the August 15, 2007, murder of Oral Livermore of Portsmouth in Portmore.
Allegations are that in the afternoon on the day in question, Livermore was one of two persons reportedly caught defacing Jamaica Labour Party posters when a white car drove up. Both persons were shot; Livermore later died.
Following investigations, the councillor/caretaker was picked up and subsequently charged with Livermore's murder.
