Accountant dies in road accident

Fifty-two-year-old accountant Leopold Cameron of Bridgeport, St Catherine, became the 22nd road fatality in the St Catherine North Police Division on Thursday night, when he succumbed to injuires received in a motor vehicle collision.

Reports from the Traffic Department are that about 10:40 p.m., Cameron was driving a Corolla motor car from Clarendon. When he reached about 400 metres east of the Spanish Town Toll Plaza, a BMW SUV travelling behind him allegedly hit his vehicle. Both drivers lost control of their vehicles and Cameron slammed into an embankment on the side of the road.

Cameron suffered major injuries and was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died while being treated.

The police are looking for the other driver but have not released his identity. They said the driver should report to the station for the investigation to continue.

Meanwhile, The St Catherine North Traffic Department is encouraging people to be careful when they are using the roads.
