As the race for places in the next round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup intensified yesterday, high-riding Lacovia came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with many-time champions Munro College at Lacovia.
In the other Zone E games St Elizabeth Technical beat BB Coke 4-0 with Deshorn Brown scoring a hat-trick to bring his tally for the season to 20. In another game played yesterday Maggotty registered a 3-0 win over Black River.
At Lacovia, Munro's Beighton Stewart opened the scoring when his right-footed curling free-kick went through the wall to beat goalkeeper Ronique Rowe.
The tempo of the game intensified and minutes later Lacovia equalised when Javid Morris scored from a corner in the 59th minute.
"We came here to play a tactical game and to keep Lacovia in their half. We did it for most of the half but poor defending cost us and we gave up a simple goal. The draw means that we have a slim chance of remaining in the competition," coach of Munro, Hopeton Gilchrist, said.
Lacovia's coach Lance Morgan was quite satisfied with his team's performance and said he is confident they will get into the next round.
"We are still six points ahead of Munro so we are still in a good position to advance to the next round," coach Morgan said
