Cops probe threat on member of parliament

The Kingston Central police are now investigating a report that Basil Waite, opposition spokesperson on education, threatened Member of Parliament Dr Donald Rhodd.

THE STAR understands that recently both men, members of the People's National Party (PNP), were having a heated telephone conversation, during which Waite allegedly said to Rhodd, "I going to fix your ... business."

A policeman at the Kingston Central Police Station confirmed that Rhodd, chairman of the PNP's Region Two, made a report to them and that it is being investigated.

THE STAR understands that the argument came about due to bad blood between the two, stemming from the recent leadership race between Dr Peter Phillips and Portia Simpson Miller. Waite supported Simpson Miller while Rhodd supported Phillips.
