Campbell charged with escaping custody

After being sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment on April 11 for unlawful wounding, woun-ding to intent, robbery and possession of gun, Omar Camp-bell tried to escape only six months later from the Horizon Remand Centre.

This time around, Campbell is charged with escaping custody when he appeared in the Cor-porate Area Resident Magis-trate's Court last Friday.

Campbell told the court that he did not escape custody. "Your Honour, I did not escape, mi just walk out, escape a when some-body break out of somewhere. I saw my way out and mi just walk out, that's all," he said.

Campbell was sentenced to two years' hard labour which will run consecutively.
