Alexis Falloon is all smiles as she poses with her winning design in the Foska Oats Fresh Look competition.
Danielle Meggoe of Ardenne High and Alexis Falloon of Waterford High were recently selected as winners of the Foska Oats Fresh Look competition.
The competition, which encouraged students to submit new designs for the back of the Foska Oats box, saw Meggoe claiming the top prize in the 14 - 17 year-old category. Falloon emerged winner in the 11-13 year-old category.
"It was a surprise to hear that I won. I was overwhelmed; my heart was full of joy," said Falloon.
Meggoe was just as excited and lauded Foska Oats for starting the competition.
"Any competition that gives individuals a chance to showcase their talent and will benefit not only the individual but also the school, is something that anyone should enter," she said. "It's a product that I've enjoyed over the years so I wanted to be involved in creating the new look."
For their efforts the students received computers in addition to $15,000 which will go towards their schools' development fund. They will also have their designs displayed on the Foska box for three months beginning November 2008.
The competition came out of the desire to give young people an opportunity to display their creativity.
"It is really exciting for us to see the talent of our young people and to put it on display for all to see...," declared Foska brand manager, Jacqueline Dawes-Clarke.
