Body confirmed to be Ananda dean

Police have confirmed that the body of a young girl found in bushes in Belvedere, St Andrew, in late September, is that of 11-year-old Ananda Dean.

Dean, who was a grade-six student of the Swallowfield All-Age School, went missing on September 17, while on her way home from school.

The body was positively identified by means of DNA testing on Tuesday and Dean's relatives informed.

The cause of her death, however, is still inconclusive and because of the state of decomposition, it could not be determined if she had been sexually assaulted.
