Bolt pics flood LA, NY

The hype around triple Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Usain Bolt, may slowly be dying down, but the athlete and his achievements have been immortalised in billboards and ads in New York and Los Angeles.

Images of Bolt and his world record wins have also been placed in the New York Subway and on some of the city's buses.

Danielle Santis, head of public relations for PUMA Latin America, told THE WEEKEND STAR that the ads were designed by the New York- based advertising firm Droga5. She said the ads were "commissioned by PUMA to commemorate his record-breaking performances in Beijing."

Debuted on city buses

The ads debuted in New York and Los Angeles in mid-September on city buses, billboards and subway stations. Santis also told THE WEEKEND STAR of an "online viral campaign launched on September 22 with the Droga5-produced videos being seeded globally on Youtube, MSN Messenger and Video Egg."

A CNBC online article published on September 22, also made mention of the ads, calling them the "best post-Olympics advertising of a Beijing Olympic icon we've seen yet."

PUMA officials say the response to the ads have been "favourable."
