A call to love

Dear Pastor,

I am a regular reader of your column and I need your help. I am 18 years old and my boyfriend is 20. I love him, but he lives in Jamaica and I live in England. I attend college and am doing well. When I come home from school, I am very tired so I do not get to call my boyfriend in time.

When that happens, he says I do not love him, but that is not true. We have been friends since grade seven. I really love him because he was the one who sent me to school while I was in Jamaica, and he helped pay my plane fare to England. How could I forget him?

Tell me what I should do.

L.M., England

Dear L.M.,

You have tried to explain to your boyfriend your situation. You cannot do more. He should try to understand your situation and the difference in time between Jamaica and England.

Perhaps he misses you and would want to hear from you every day but that is not possible. Both of you should come to an understanding and only communicate with each other on weekends by phone and email each other anytime of the day. Using email is a much cheaper way to communicate.

Try to concentrate on your college work. May God bless you.

Pastor
