Stage Name: Shema

Real name: Yeshemabeth McGregor

Birth Month: November

How did you get started in the business?

"Started as a background vocalist for my mother (Judy Mowatt) ... been there since someone was missing, never stopped since."

What has been your greatest challenge in the business yet?

"Greatest challenge... wow! It's just maintaining yourself from who your parents are... because alot of people tend to judge me from what my parents has done. So the challenge is just to be me."

What have you been up to lately?

"Recording, recording, recording... doing alot of tours with my father and in the studio with Stephen working."

Do you look up to any specific artistes?

"My father, to be honest... it is not just because he is my father, but the quality in his music... it's just the overall knowledge you learn from him and I think most people will agree to that."

Are you happy with the way things are going for your musical career right now?

"Yeah man... there is nothing better than doing what you love. I'm truly blessed to be able to travel... I think I have my fair share of blessing."

Anything you'd like to change about it?

"No there isn't... I'm expecting alot of good things in the near future."

Do you have any advice for young artistes coming up?

"Just try to be yourself as much as possible... focus on your quality of work, rather than quantity... don't sell yourself for a hype. in the long run, it doesn't pay."

Where do you see your career in ten years?

"I'm a Pop Star [laughs]... basically building on what is going on right now, and taking it internationally. My mother tells me that I must not undermine their achievements, and expand on their legacy."
