All set for start of JNBS open league

Olympic 400 metres silver medallist Shericka Williams will be the guest of honour at tomorrow's opening ceremony for the 2008-09 Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS)/Jamaica Netball Association (JNA) open league competition at the Leila Robinson Courts, starting at 1 p.m.

The competition is sponsored to the tune of $1.5 million by JNBS and has attracted 67 teams, with Boulevard Baptist, Rivoli United and Waterford Sports Council as newcomers. Mico have also made a return to the competition, following a two-year absence.

Jamalco are the defending champions of the Jo Wigman competition, while Tivoli Gardens 'A' and 'B' are the defending open league and consolation champions, respectively.

Trinidad and Tobago and South Africa, who are both gearing for their tri-nation series against host, Jamaica's Sunshine Girls, will also be in attendance at the opening ceremony.
