Tamika Jackson - Ian Allen
Twenty-eight-year-old Tamika Jackson is a sports junky. To put her enthusiasm about the pastime in her own words: "I will die for my sports."
The teacher who is based at Edwin Allen High School was more than happy to talk about her passion. Dressed in her sports shirt, sweat pants and track shoes, Jackson, who has been a physical education (PE) and Sports teacher at the school for six years, said has no regrets in signing up for the job.
Die for my sports
"I do PE because I love sports, I will die for my sports. PE is a field that combines both my love for sport and teaching as one. I never get tired of either of them," she said.
As a PE and Sports teacher at the institution, Jackson oversees PE classes for grades seven to 11 and teaches sports to students in grades 10 and 11.
Distinctions
Not only did the jovial Jackson boast that she has a wonderful teacher/ student rapport with her classes, she noted that of the 41 PE and Sports students she signed up for the Caribbean Examination Council exams last year, a whopping 31 of them came back with distinctions (grade one) while the others took home credits (grade two).
As for Jackson, she hopes to starts her Bachelor's of Science degree in PE at the G.C. Foster College shortly. After that is done, you guessed it right, she will be heading right back to the playing field with more students.
