Man on 11 counts of carnal abuse - Cops say schoolgirl was being held at his house

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Spanish Town

The Linstead police on Friday charged a 22-year-old man with 11 counts of carnal abuse committed against a 14 year-old-girl.

THE STAR learnt that the police received information that a schoolgirl was being held at a house in Banbury district near Linstead, St Catherine.

In her uniform

When they went to the house they saw the man having sex with the girl who was still in her uniform.

He was held and the girl taken to the hospital where she was examined and formal charges laid against the man.

He is scheduled to appear in the Linstead Resident Magis-trate's Court on November 19.

Sub-officer in charge of the Linstead police, Inspector David White, said that they are working assiduously to lower the number of sex crimes being committed against schoolgirls in Linstead.

Implementing strategies

Within two weeks the police say that they will be implementing strategies to take children off the streets, if they are found lingering at unacceptable hours. "We are stomping out the practice of people taking advantage of children, especially at this time when abductions are rampant," White said.
