Deadbeat cop dad

Dear Pastor,

I am living in Canada and my son is living in Jamaica. His dad is a policeman and he is not taking care of his child. He has left everything on me. He doesn't care about his child. He has a son going to high school. He puts his all in this child. I want my family members to take him to court re his son.

Please advise me as to what to do. Thank you.

M.J., Ontario, Canada.

Dear M.J.,

If the policeman is supporting his son who attends high school, but is not supporting the other, something is wrong. Did you have a good relationship with the officer before you left Jamaica? Has he accepted paternity? How old is the child?

May I suggest that you try to contact him and ask him whether one of your relatives can take the child to see him at his work place or anywhere convenient to him. I do know that some officers do not support their children, but I don't believe in this case I have heard the whole story.

Pastor
