Corporal Leslie 'Steve' Moodie, the Jamaica Defence Force soldier implicated in the deaths of four men during an incident at the Double Diamond Gaming Lounge on October 20, has been charged with four counts of murder. Moodie, 21, was charged yesterday.
Those killed were Ejon Peart, 20, sound system operator of Greendale Drive, Kingston 19; Davian 'Don P' Kerr, 19, and Lynchmore Forbes, 24, both of Pembroke Hall and William Wilberforce, 28, of Duhaney Drive, Kingston 20.
Weeks in hospital
Injured are three men aged 65, 26 and 20. The soldier was also injured during the incident and spent several weeks in hospital.
Police say about 4:15 a.m., the eight were among patrons at the club, located at the Boulevard SuperCentre, St Andrew, where a birthday party was being held.
Shots were heard
It is reported that Moodie and a female were having a conversation when men intervened. Shortly after, shots were heard. It was later discovered that the eight, including the soldier, were shot.
Peart, Kerr and Wilberforce died on the spot. The police were called and the injured persons taken to hospital where Forbes succumbed to his injuries. Moodie is to appear in court soon.
