It was a day filled with fun and excitement as Reggae's elite artiste Freddie Mcgregor and his Big Ship family visited Vaz Preparatory School, his children's alma mater.
The day got started with Mcgregor and daughter Shema singing Lord Help Me while the students and teachers lined the railings.
It was a special occasion for both students and teachers, who had the luxury of having the McGregor children Stephen, Chino, and Shema for the day.
"It feels good coming back here, and the students are great. It is really good," said Stephen.
Acompanying the Big Ship family was former Rising Star Laden, who is now signed to their record label. His hit song Shine received a warm welcome by the students, who sang along word for word.
"What did you learn this morning?" This was the question that Karlene Bisnott, Principal of Vaz Preparatory posed to students who were already smitten with the McGregor clan. "I learnt that you are not too young to start singing," said Nigel a grade two student. "I also learnt that you must follow your dreams, never give up and continue to work hard," another student shouted.
The day continued, and the family went from class to class signing autographs and greeting the students.
"This is what we as artistes should do on a regular basis, these things motivate the kids," said Freddie Mcgregor.
He added: "I believe that whenever someone leaves a school and becomes successful, they should go back and act as role models. I think it's good mentally. Look how disciplined these students behave."
The visit ended with the McGregors taking a trip down memory lane, as they toured the school's compound, visiting their sports department, computer lab and music room.
