'Bolo' gets a date

western bureau

A preliminary enquiry date has been set in the case against one of St. James' most wanted, Anthony 'Bolo' Christie, before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

On Tuesday, it was agreed that the court will begin hearing evidence on December 17 in the matter in which Christie allegedly shot and killed a 28-year-old vendor at the Old Shoes Market on Creek Street in Montego Bay.

The deceased, Dean William of Rose Heights, St. James, was reportedly gunned down at the facility in February.

Two counts of murder

The 25-year-old accused, of Bottom Pen, Montego Bay, is now facing two counts of murder as he has been slapped with another charge, which he shares with Reo McIntosh, in relation to the December 2007 murder of Jenese Gordon.

The prosecution is still awaiting a statement regarding the arrest of Christie to complete its file. This matter will also be mentioned on December 17.

Christie and McIntosh, who are represented by attorneys-at-law Lambert Johnson and Winston Douglas respectively, were remanded.

The two were recently transferred to the Horizon Remand Centre after they were injured during an alleged altercation at the Montego Freeport police lock-up.

Williams shot

The court heard that about 8 p.m. on February 14, 2008, Williams was sitting at the entrance of the market when Christie approached him. Christie allegedly pulled what appeared to be a gun from his waistband and shot Williams.

Williams was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

In the matter involving McIntosh, the court heard that on December 5 last year, a witness saw McIntosh, Christie and two other men, all armed with guns, walking towards Gordon's home. The witness alleges that Christie and McIntosh walked up the steps of the home and kicked open the door. This was followed by the sound of explosions, after which the witness saw the two men running from the house with their guns in hand.

McIntosh, who was facing a rape charge at the time, was arrested on December 10 when he attended court for that matter.
