Man accused of smuggling 'coke-flavoured' punch

A man who is accused of disguising cocaine in tins of fruit juice was remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.

David Baronet appeared to answer charges of possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and taking steps to export cocaine. The court heard that the accused went to the Norman Manley International Airport where he checked in to board a flight to London, England.

His bags were searched and three tins labelled Lasco Fruit Punch and Lasco Tropical Punch were found. It is alleged that they contained a substance resembling cocaine. Baronet was arrested and charged.

When he appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown, the clerk said the file was incomplete as they were still awaiting the forensic report.
