Eye-dazzling lingerie clash at Asylum

- winston sill

Picture spending a night with your eyes fixed on skimpily clad women in outrageous pieces that lure one into deep admiration.

Well, on Saturday, the Asylum nightclub was transformed into a mini-Playboy mansion to host the first ever lingerie fashion clash.

With elegantly dressed females, and decorated with banners of sponsors Wincarnis Wines, the stage area was transformed into a bedroom, adorned with white sheets and matching drapes. Patrons were left to wonder what was to come.

It was to be a face-off between the beautiful Hard Copy girls Latoya, Christina, Kerry-Ann, Felecia and Chin, and La Creme's 'cream of the crop' models, Mashail, Akeila, Marla-Kay, Krystal and Nastassia.

With the winner walking away with a $50,000 cash prize and bragging rights, as the sexiest lingerie model, it was a show not to be missed.

Musical vibe

The musical vibe was maintained by DJ Inferno and Arif Cooper, as patrons rocked under Jennifer Hudson's Spotlight and surrendered to Kanye West's Love Lockdown.

Despite the late start, the main event, got u underway after 2 a.m. Split into three segments, the first saw the introduction of both sets of models. Next was a head to head clash, and the final segment, an all out 'strip tease'.

"We wanted to do something different," said Earl Samuels, the man at the helm of Asylum. "This is the first but it definitely won't be the last."

Strutting to Neyo's Miss Independent, the La Creme models took the stage in style, wearing leather catwoman-like suits which hugged their curves and generated an immediate response from the audience. The women were introduced by emcee Toney Chrome.

Then came the Hard Copy girls dressed as French maids, in short black and white skirts with matching tops, which worked well with their feather dusters.

Dropping bits and pieces

The head-to-head section saw Chin of Hard Copy up against Nastassia of La Creme, modelling to Plies' Bust It Baby. This caused pandemonium inside the club, with the men showing approval by whistling and 'busting blanks'.

"Nastassia hot bad, Chin hot bad, mi nah lie, mi caan pick a winner," said one male patron.

The final segment saw the ten contestants taking the stage one after the other. The venue erupted when crowd favourites Nastassia, Latoya, Mashail and Kerry-Ann took the stage, dropping bits and pieces of their outfits.

Krystal became the eye candy of the moment, as she paraded in her candy-striped attire before stripping down and revealing her assets.

As Toney Chrome sought to find the winner, there were giveaways to patrons. No winner was chosen and most persons found this to be very anti-climatic, and Chrome tried to boost the energy that had died.

The party then restarted with Brick and Lace's Love Is Wicked, T.I. and Rihanna's Live Your Life and Lil' Wayne's Lollipop.

A new look

"Next year will be much better as we are looking to have girls from agencies overseas involved; girls from Canada, New York and Miami," said Samuels.

"Look out fi a new-look Asylum next year, wi a come with a new concept," he added.

"We are looking forward to the next event early next year," Pat Edwards of Hardcopy told THE STAR. This was echoed by Freddie James CEO of La Creme.
