Jail calls early for phone thief

spanish town

Moses Findlay, 22, who pleaded guilty to the theft of a Claro cellphone valuing more than $10,000, was remanded until December 4, when he will be sentenced.

When Findlay appeared before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, investigating officer Detective Corporal Kirk Roache, outlined that on November 19, the youth went into a Claro store on Burke Road in the old capital.

He said the store clerk left and went upstairs for other phones to show to two customers who happened to be policemen.

Findlay, the court heard, grabbed a Sony Ericson phone valued at $10,500, from the display area and bolted from the store. He ran up the street but was chased and held by the policemen. Roache added that the incident happened in broad daylight.
