Love is blind

A man accused of assaulting his wife, who is visually impaired, was set free when she begged for lenience on his behalf.

Anthony Brown appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday to answer to a charge of assault occasioning bodily harm.

The court was told that the Browns had a dispute during which an object was used to hit the complainant. The accused told the court that he did not assault his wife and that he merely threw the object and it hit her by accident.

The complainant however told the court that her husband did assault her, but said she wanted Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown to be lenient with him.

She told the court that the accused was the one who cares for her daily and said she would have no one to look after her if he goes to jail. She said "It doesn't matter how late im come home, im always find himself in di kitchen. Im tek care a mi, mi meals and everything. I still love him."

Brown was admonished and discharged.
