A man who reportedly identified himself as a pastor of a church and collected goods without paying for them was remanded when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Delroy Heron is facing charges of conspiracy, forgery, uttering forged documents and obtaining goods by forged documents. He appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown.
The court was told that Heron made calls to several companies and identified himself as the pastor of a Seventh Day Adventist Church. He reportedly told the companies that he wanted to purchase some air-conditioning units, and told them that someone would come to collect them.
He, however, went to collect the items himself, but failed to pay for them. It is alleged that he subsequently tried to pay for the goods with cheques, which he signed as the pastor of the church. It was later discovered that the cheques were forged. The court was also told that Heron had similar matters still pending and that this latest incident allegedly took place while he was out on bail.
His lawyer's application for bail was denied and he was remanded. He is to return to court on December 17.
