I must congratulate you on your wonderful works. First, I am 21 years old and recently gave birth to a child. I was in the USA, late last year, and returned to Jamaica earlier this year. I searched my babyfather's phone and found a picture of him and a married woman. I confronted him about it and he told me his aunt took the picture. At the time, I was in the early stages of my pregnancy. He denied getting me pregnant, saying his aunt told him the baby was not his. We argued a lot and he even embarrassed me in public.

Shortly after our child was born, a woman, who he said was his girlfriend, came to Jamaica. His aunt started an argument with my mother and it was then that I found out that the woman was his sweetheart. Now, he wants me to marry him. Do you think I should? I await your fatherly advice.

Dear M.M.,

How could a man, who denied that he impregnated you and that he is the father of your child, propose to marry you? He is a crazy man. How does his aunt know that he is not the father of the child? Some people go too far in the affairs of their relatives.

Is he still having the relationship with this other woman, who is living abroad? Why does he really want to marry you? Is it that you have a green card and he is hoping that when the both of you get married, you will be able to file for him to live in the States?

I am not going to tell you not to consider his proposal. But, I would urge you to make sure that he is not playing around with other women. And, I will also encourage you to get pre-marital counselling, if you decide to marry him.
