A move to Kingston was what was needed to propel the musical career of upcoming artiste Spryng I.

The 27-year-old Rastafarian singer, whose real name is Gary Williams, left Clarendon for Kingston four years ago to take music seriously.

"I moved cause I love the music. It's spiritual for me. I see it as a way to gather the people. It is a gift from the Most High to do this work," Williams told The STAR.

Since then, Spryng I has been recording for various producers. However, it is his link with Tren-Setta Productions that has been helping him to make his mark in the entertainment industry.

"A Tren-Setta a mek it happen. A dem send mi a road. They are my management. Tren-Setta is working very hard on Spryng I career," the artiste who claims his stage name means 'Haile Selassie music', said.

With songs like Heights Up, Digicel and Pressuring the Poor, which is a collaboration with Ras Shiloh, Spryng I has been making an impact. He is also scheduled to have a new single, Trod On, in January.

"I getting crazy play on Irie Fm, Best FM and Zip FM," said Spryng I who has performed at Spice in the Hill and Ten Giants of the 80s, as well as other community shows and street dances.

But with all the work that is being put into his career by Tren-Setta Productions, Spryng I still has difficulties.

"Getting into the music is very difficult. It takes a lot of humbleness cause sometimes yuh song voice and yuh can't hear it or dem just dump it," he said.

Nonetheless, Spryng I says he will continue to promote his music. He says he will perform at Sting in December and Rebel Salute in January.
