A bartender, who used a customer's credit card to purchase $107,000 worth of goods and services, repaid the entire sum when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
Devon Bailey pleaded guilty to obtaining money by false pretence and told the court that he brought the money he spent and wanted to repay it. Allegations heard by the court are that the complainant went to the business establishment where the accused worked as a bartender, and tendered his credit card for payment of things he purchased there.
Goods and services
The complainant allegedly left his card and the accused used it to purchase goods and services valuing $107,000. After the money was paid over to the complainant's lawyer, who received the sum on his behalf, a sentencing date was set in the matter.
Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown set the matter for Monday and extended his bail until the next mention date on December 15.
