Dear Pastor,
I have read the letters in your columns and am appreciative of the advice you always give. I recently read the letter titled "Hexed" and would like to say that I too was under the spell of a young man from Jamaica.
He convinced me how much he loved and cared for me and couldn't live his life without me, etc. He'd often express his desire to travel and his need for assistance as he'd been undergoing some financial difficulties. As a result, I sent money to him, only to be told that he'd "misplaced same". He began to sound like the boy who cried wolf, so I turned my back on him.
Using me financially
I really cared about this person, but soon realised that he was only using me financially and to assist in whatever ventures he had going on back home. I hated having to turn my back on someone in need, but he was never genuine to begin with.
Thanks.

Dear Duped by love,
Many 'ginnals' are around. Try your best to avoid them. Don't always believe what a man says about loving you. Some men shed tears, water running from their eyes, but they don't mean what they say. I am sorry you were duped. May your bad experience help you not to make the same mistake again. And, may the Good Lord provide you with a good man in His own time.
