kingston, jamaica (ap):
Olympic gold medallist Usain Bolt isn't interested in World Records at this point in his career.
He wants to win championships.
"I don't run for records," the Jamaican sprinter said recently. "I have the World Records, so I have no thought of breaking it, as long as it's mine."
Bolt was dominating in Beijing where, a day before the 200-metre final, he told journalists that he was going all out for the world record. He had already won the 100 metres in 9.69 seconds for his first world record, but appeared to slow down the final 10 metres.
He didn't do that in the 200 metres cruising to a record time of 19.30 seconds.
After also running the third leg on the gold medal-winning 4x100-metre relay team in Beijing, Bolt's goal now is to win the sprint double at next year's World Championships in Berlin.
"I just go out and compete," he said. "If I get a world record, I get a world record."
