Thousands came out to support the 'Save the children rally' in Portmore on Sunday.
The event, which was coordinated by Bishop Dr Delford Davis, saw churches, schools, the municipal council, police, parents and guardians come out in their numbers to warn off predators who are abducting, abusing, raping and murdering children because it is 'action time'.
Students from the Hydel Group of Schools, Bridgeport Primary, Bridgeport High, and the Kiddies in Praise and Teens in Praise choirs ministered in dance and music. Hydel's Keina-Kay Martin performed a solo piece, Kiddies in Praise did a sign-language version of Don't Let Them Hurt The Children, while, Saneika Griffiths of Bridgeport High did a dub poem titled: 'In A Child's World'.
new song
The main performer Cleve 'Lieutenant Stitchie' Laing introduced a new song, which condemned the abuse of children. He also performed his favourite songs Fast And Pray and Lord I Thank You.
Betty Ann Blaine, the convener of Hear the Children Cry, gave the keynote address. Blaine said the abuse of children in Jamaica is a family problem. "When we fix the family, we fix the country," she said.
She spoke about changing one children at a time. She later disclosed that parents should be careful what they are exposing their children to. She said parents cannot feed their children a steady diet of sex. They should, however, feed them on a steady diet of Jesus Christ.
She requested solidarity from parents and asked them to take a stand on buses and taxis that play lewd and vulgar music.
