JACK SPRAT

Dear Pastor,

I live with my boyfriend and we have been together for a year. I am nine weeks pregnant and he has begun to treat me with disrespect.

We have started to fight and I am feeling hurt because I love this man with my whole life. Because of my Christian upbringing I don't believe in abortion or having my child out of wedlock.

I don't make enough money to maintain myself; he pays all the bills. I am heartbroken because I love him, but now he says that he doesn't love me anymore and that I have got fat. He hates me.

Please tell me what to do because I am about to lose my mind. Every day I cry because I am so confused.

Help me please, Pastor.

M.M., Trelawny, Jamaica

Dear M.M.,

What a foolish boyfriend you have! You are pregnant, how does he expect you to look -slim? He is very silly and if he raises his hand and hits you again, you should call the police on him. Something has to be done to teach him to behave himself. Now I know that when some women are pregnant, they become moody and even irritable, but that is because of their pregnancy.

STRESSFUL

Pregnancy can be stressful and for this guy to be adding more stress on you would make life for you very miserable and may cause you complications.

Both of you seemed not to have been prepared for this pregnancy. But it has happened, so he should treat you well and give you all the moral support that you need.

Lady, if this man is making life too difficult for you to bear, find a place and move out.

If you can't go back to your parents, ask a close friend or a close relative to take you in. Some people have had to do that. Thank God for good relatives and good friends.

I repeat, don't allow this man to abuse you and get away with it.

Pastor,
