'Raining' ambition

Raine Seville

Stage Name: Raine Seville

Real Name: Loraine Seville

Birth Month: July

How did you get started in the business?

Raine: "Through Serani, hearing me singing. He then requested a demo and when he got the demo he said he wants to work with me."

What has been your greatest challenge in the business yet?

Raine: "Apart from negative vibes which every artiste experiences, my greatest challenge would have to be maintaining the standards of (my producer) DASECA. I'm new to this industry and DASECA is on a high right now, so I have to be able to keep up with their pace. I'm not spoon-fed."

What have you been up to lately?

Raine: "Lots of promotion, campaigning my songs, interviews etc. Recording a lot for producers like Esco, Chimney Records, Leftside, DASECA, of course Big Ship and others. Preparing for upcoming performances."

Do you look up to any specific artiste and why?

Raine: "Tanya Stephens. I admire and respect her strength and confidence in regards to freedom of speech in such a male-dominated and somewhat biased industry. I love her diversity that's what I aim to do, without, of course, coming out my comfort zone."

Are you happy with the way things are going for your musical career right now?

Raine: "Yes, I'm extremely happy and thankful I have a great team at DASECA guiding me and my career path and everything is done with respect and handled professionally. Media houses have been showing me lots of love. I have a lot of motivators."

Do you have any advice for other young artistes coming up?

Raine: "Yes. If it's truly your passion then be of good courage and faith in yourself and the most high. Always try to be the victor and not the victim of obstacles that will come your way and stay true to yourself and the rest will follow."

Where do you see your career in the future?

Raine: "I see my career exceeding the sky. Through my career, I'll be seen as a mogul, an influential figure contributing positively to society. I also want to be International, winning all musical awards (laughs)."
