Charitable Rasta jailed for ganja

A Rastafarian farmer who tried to export over five kilograms (12 lb) of ganja from the island was fined $75,000 and sentenced to six months' imprisonment when he answered to the charge yesterday.

The accused, Dennis Fuller, was arrested and charged after he attempted to board a plane, destined for Trinidad, at the Norman Manley International Airport.

Fuller told the court that he tried to export the drug so he could procure money to put on a Christmas treat for the children in his Corporate Area community. He was fined and slapped with the custodial sentence.
