Residents of Independence City were treated to an intense night of entertainment, good food and drinks at the annual Independence City Pharmacy customer appreciation day recently.
Held in the parking lot of the pharmacy, the event saw artiste such as I-Octane, Wasp and breakthrough artiste Bragga blazing the stage, creating a memorable night for all who came for the festivities.
The event started with a low turnout about 4 p.m., but the combination of intense selections from sound system TNG music (formerly Bass Oddessey: next generation) free food and drinks, soon swelled the crowd to near capacity by 6:30 p.m. Food served included curry goat, fish and soup.
bellies full and the vibe in full swing
With bellies full and the vibe in full swing, the entertainers hit the stage, starting with popular singing group, X-ALE. The group delivered a short but solid performance that left the crowd wanting more. Dancehall act Wasp then took centre stage, hitting the audience with his usual high energy.
New act Big Pop had the crowd in stitches with his singing/comedic routine and received a call for an encore for his popular single, Dutty Landlord. Local act, Beefy and Lil' Wacky stood their ground among the established acts, as they got a 'crowd forward' for songs such as Come Fi Di Murda, and Money Wi Wa.
The crowd was highly receptive to dance acts from the young dance group, Little Angels, who gave two mesmerising performances, which saw skillful classical ballet, as well as other dance techniques. The festivities were cut short, as a representative from Independence City Pharmacy unveiled its 'Inflation Fighter Plan', which included a new points system for customers to earn money while they spend.
The night's intensity was at it's mecca when Bragga touched the stage, immediately whipping the crowd into a frenzy with his smash hit, Dagga Dat. He gave a strong performance, even including his new hit Look Dem Gal, in his performance.
"It was great. every year it (Pharmacy) brings exciting popular acts for us, and just give us a night of good food and great fun that seems to get better and better each year," said Nikki, a patron and resident of Independence City.
