Starting off on the right foot

GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

It was approximately 12:30 p.m. on Sunday November 2, when Bishop Clive Reid, overseer for Emmanuel's Hope Restored Church of God at Zinc Shop in Spaldings, Clarendon, called for the parents of Glenroy Pryce to take the lad before the altar to be dedicated to God.

The parents, Linval and Hortense Pryce, never hesitated and proudly walked up the aisle and stood in front of the bishop and the congregation to receive parental instructions from the man of God.

Blessed

Bishop Reid told the parents that it was a good move that they made, when they took little Glenroy to the church to be dedicated to God. He added that, as parents, they need to set the right examples for their son and ensure that he grows up in the fear and admonition of the Lord.

"If you are in church, the child will also be in church. You can't be sitting at home and expect that the child is going to be in church. You need to attend church for the child to emulate you," said Bishop Reid to shouts of 'amen' from the congregation.

Reid, in his prayer of dedication, thanked the Lord for little Glenroy and his parents. He went on to ask God to bless Glenroy's going out and coming in, and that His protection will always be around him.

After Glenroy, who was born at the Percy Junor Hospital on November 24, 2006, was dedicated, his mother said she felt good knowing that her son was blessed.

Guidance of the Lord

"It is very important, especially these days. With the things that are happening these days, especially for young men, growing them up in the church is the best thing, because they will grow to love more and grow Christ-like," she said.

She noted that growing up in the church has helped her to acknowledge that everything that she does requires her to place God before her. She said the guidance of the Lord will help children to determine wrong from right.
