Mark Bucknor, one of music's long-serving artistes has come out to assure fans of a strong comeback after being absent from the local scene for several years.
Bucknor, who entered the music world over two decades ago, told The STAR that his music career has been revived, and hopes to renew the days when he produced songs that pleased the ladies.
"Yea, I am definitely making a comeback. We have a lot of new songs out. There was a video shoot in New York for one of my songs, so I guess things are beginning to pick up," said Bucknor, who is known for the once popular song Cuss Cuss.
management issues
Bucknor, whose stage name is Mark Ice, claimed his absence from music was based on management issues, despite the rumours about a fall-out with fellow artiste Dill Gin.
He said the experience with his former partner was great and one that he would always cherish.
"Yes I have been absent, but it was just a change of label company and you know how sometimes the duo thing don't work, so I had to make a decision to go my way and he did his own," he said.
"To be honest it was a great experience. He is a go-getter and there were times when I didn't feel the vibes and he would be there saying deejay let's go on the road," Bucknor added.
At present, Bucknor 35, has recorded Good Morning Beautiful, and a few others songs produced by himself and Charles Parchment, of Big Laud Records.
remodelling the foundation
"Well the only thing I can say about Mark Ice is to expect the best. Everything is there, appearance, music, and style so it is greatness right now. We are just remodelling the foundation," he said.
Bucknor's 20 years in the music business had him working with popular artistes like Beres Hammond, Beenie Man, Lady Saw, and Elephant Man. He pointed out that the experience was invaluable.
"It was a great experience working with Beres and all those artistes. I think it was a major achievement for me. Right now my music is very productive and my songs are getting heavy rotations," said the father of seven year olds Althea and Tahj.
Bucknor credits God for his success: "I have to give God thanks, without Him I could not do anything."
