West Indies vice-captain Denesh Ramdin and his team-mates are in an upbeat mood looking ahead to the third one-day international against New Zealand tomorrow afternoon.

The wicketkeeper/batsman, in a release from the West Indies Cricket Board, said that the victory by five wickets in the second match at Christchurch last Saturday has given the team "momentum". Ramdin played a key role in that win, making 28 from 18 balls, as the Windies took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

"It was a good way to start the year and we will be looking for more success. We have made our plans and will be looking to execute. We have the lead now and will be looking for another victory when we take the field on Wednesday. We have been putting in the hard work in the nets and we aim to get more positive results," he said.

Lot of confidence.

"The innings on Saturday night has given me a lot of confidence. Any person who gets a start and goes on to win a game like that, it is bound to give him confidence. I believe we have momentum going forward. The Test series ended in a deadlock, the Twenty/20s finished 1-1, so it was good we moved ahead in the 50-over format."

In the victory, Ramdin added an unbeaten 48 for the sixth wicket with Ramnaresh Sarwan, who made a brilliant 67 not out. Ramdin said Sarwan instilled the confidence in him to do the job.

"The mood in the camp is good. With 40 needed in four overs, some teams might not have been able to get over the line, but it was great we are able to do it and we did it in style. We had that belief and it is the same belief we will take into the third match," Ramdin added.

Bit of pressure

"There was a bit of pressure going into the one-day series knowing I didn't perform with the bat as I wanted to in the Test series. I was determined to go out there and enjoy the moment. Batting with Sarwan gave me the confidence to go out there and execute. I think I'm quite capable of getting a lot more runs, so hopefully I'll continue in the one-day series and win more games for us."

Meanwhile, Shivnarine Chan-derpaul continues his rehabilitation from a hand injury. He spent close to an hour batting in the nets and will continue to get treatment in the lead-up to tomorrow's match. The fixture will be played at the Westpac Stadium and play starts at 2 p.m. (today at 8 p.m. Jamaica time). The weather, a significant factor in both ODIs so far, is expected to be fair for the second and final day/night encounter.
