PREGNANT WOMAN BEATEN FOR LOTION

Father-to-be slams girlfriend's head into door, beats her with baton

A man, who beat his pregnant girlfriend during a dispute over a bottle of lotion, was lucky when he was let off with just a warning.

Kevin Beacon appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday where he pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property and assault occasioning bodily harm.

Allegations are that on January 5, the complainant went to the house of the accused for a bottle of lotion which Beacon had taken from her on a previous occasion. The accused and the complainant got into a fight, during which Beacon allegedly grabbed the nine-months-pregnant complainant's head and hit it against the door and then proceeded to beat and hit her all over her body.

denied the attack

He then allegedly pulled a baton and an ice pick to further harm her, however, he was stopped by his brothers. "If a neva fi him bredda dem, mi nuh know what woulda happen to me," the complainant told the court.

However, Beacon denied the attack. He said he and the complainant were playing when it developed into fight. Beacon added that it was during the fight that he and his girlfriend were injured. He claimed while they were playing, she began to destroy his things and they became involved in an argument, which turned into a fight.

Luckily for Beacon, his girlfriend did not want him to go to jail and asked Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown to let him off with a warning. She said she did not want the situation to happen again and that he was short-tempered.

"The only reason I'm giving you a chance today is because the baby soon born and I want you to be around to help her," RM Brown told the accused. He then made a no order in both matters.
