Sunderland manager Ricky Sbragia has snubbed yet another offer from Tottenham for Trinidadian international Kenwyne Jones and has slammed the club's latest spirited attempt to lure the prized striker to White Hart Lane.
"He will not be going to Spurs. No chance. They have enquired and we have said no. I spoke to Kenwyne on Friday with chairman Niall Quinn and he is happy to stay here," said Sbragia.
"It is the methods Tottenham use which are the most disappointing thing for me. There has been a lot of speculation and a lot of paper talk, but I cannot control that. It is coming from the London area.
"Our biggest concern is that the player's head does not get turned. We have said no, but when Spurs start putting things in the papers that is bad practice."
Tottenham had two initial offers for the lanky 24-year old rejected by Sunderland, but placed another deal on the table last week which involved an offer of £6 million, and an exchange of their out-of-favour Darren Bent.
Immense pressure
Sbragia said Sunderland were building much of their future around Jones, and had no intention of releasing him despite the immense pressure being placed on the club and the player.
"The ownership of the club is happy with the way things are going, and we are trying to build a team around Kenwyne," the Scot explained.
"Kenwyne has another two-and-a-half years here, and it is disappointing when other managers publicly say they want your players after they have been told there is no deal to be done."
He continued: "We spoke to him about the importance of him to the club. He knows we don't want to lose him. There has been a lot of pressure on him and there has been a lot of pressure on the club in general, but the club has stood very firm.
"He is an important member of the team. We would like to build the team around him and we would like him to stay here and he has indicated he would like to stay here.
"We want to build a team around Kenwyne, we don't want to lose him and I believe he will be here. I can't see him leaving the club."
Jones, who has impressed in the Premiership since arriving from Southampton in summer 2007, has grabbed the attention of several top flight clubs with Tottenham being most the aggressive to date.
