Birthday girl Candace Buchanan was the centre of attention at her birthday party, held at the Quad, last Saturday.

The Quad nightclub was on Saturday night packed with friends, family and well wishers who joined Candace Buchanan in celebrating her birthday.

In the lobby, persons took time to write their wishes and birthday greetings, on a notice board provided.

"Good night to everyone here tonight, I must thank you all for coming out to show your love and support. Special thanks to PJ Butta, who came all the way from Miami to be here tonight and to my mom," Buchanan said.

DJ Shane, dubbed the 'fire starter', had the vibe going in the early hours, and a dance segment which included Voicemail's Ready To Party and Macka Diamond's Hula Hoop warmed up the patrons for what was to come.

PJ Butta introduced his set with Jim Jones' Pop Champagne, getting an immediate reaction from patrons as lighters, phones and hands went skyward to show approval.

Remains focused

After a change of outfit and the unveiling of her birthday cake, Buchanan's mother, Patricia Barrett, commented: "I wish her all the best, and hope she continues to treat each and every one with respect, and also that she remains focused."

"Twenty-five a dem light, 100 deh pon it, inna cricket 25 is a good knock, but the century is the ultimate aim, suh, yuh gone 25, suh wi waan si yuh bat until yuh reach di century," said the DJ.

As she desperately tried to blow out the 25 lit candles, some just did not want to go out, so the crowd threw its support behind her, encouraging her with loud shouts of "Blow"!

A hip hop segment followed with songs from 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Kanye West, T-Pain and others. The ever-present 'daggering' segment followed, Kartel and Spice opening the Rampin' Shop, Rdx ordering women to Ben' Ova and Beenie Man making the women Back It Up.

Several persons from the entertainment fraternity also attended, Voicemail, Bounty Killer, Left Side, Jah Cure and Jerry D among them.
