A man and a woman were charged with breaches of the Firearms Act following the seizure of an illegal firearm at Third Street, Wilton Gardens, Kingston 12, on Wednesday.
Facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are 35-year-old Robert Scott, otherwise called 'Bunny', and Antoinette Minott, 38, both of Third Street, Wilton Gardens.
Reports received by the CCN are that between 5:30 and 8:30 a.m., an operation was carried out the by the Joint Police/Military Task Force at Third Street, Wilton Gardens. During the exercise, a premises occupied by Scott and Minott was searched.
The search yielded a 9mm pistol and one .38 cartridge. The two were arrested and charged. Detectives from the Joint Police/Military Task Force are investigating.
Teen found dead in cell
Meanwhile, a 19-year-old man, who was awaiting transfer from the Bridgeport police lock-up after being convicted for house-breaking and larceny, was found hanging by a piece of cloth from a grille in his cell on Wednesday evening.
Dead is Shane Stamp of Power Lane, Newlands, St Catherine.
Reports reaching the CCN are that Stamp appeared before the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday where he was convicted for housebreaking and larceny. He was sentenced to one year imprisonment and taken to the Bridgeport police lock-up, pending transfer to a correctional centre.
About 7:20 p.m., police personnel visiting the cell found Stamp hanging from the grille. He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Detectives from the Scene of Crime Unit processed the scene. The Portmore CIB is investigating.
