Rising Stars' host shines on NY TV

Yendi Phillipps - File

The Caribbean InternationalNetwork (CIN TV) is proud to announce the second airing of 'Rising Stars', on channel 73, starting on Sunday, February 15, at 7 p.m.

The show will be hosted by Yendi Phillipps.

Rising Stars, which is similar to American Idol, is the number-one reality talent show on local television in Jamaica. It showcases untapped Jamaican talent and brings it to the fore in fine style. The contestants each reflect a different part of Jamaican culture and music, showing the diversity of our nation.

Thrilled

"I'm thrilled about the tremendous response to our first season and eagerly look forward to another winning series. As individuals, the contestants have developed a ton. They are extremely fun loving and enjoy each other's company and that's always good," said Phillipps.

Along with becoming the host of Jamaica's top show, Phillipps has warmed her way into the hearts of Jamaicans, successfully staged a charity fashion show for the victims of Hurricane Dean and has gone on to make history at the Miss World pageant in Sanya, China, where she was a finalist in all of the fast-track events, becoming the first person in the history of the pageant to accomplish this.

Exciting host

CIN's CEO, Stephen Hill, said: "Rising Stars is Jamaica's number-one programme. Bringing this successful show to our New York-area viewers is a real coup for our channel. With Yendi as our exciting host, we'll continue to reach bigger audiences from all ages and backgrounds."

For the last 14 years, the CIN has been the only regularly scheduled television service for the Caribbean community in the New York area. Over the years, the network has provided a full menu of news, sports, drama and music programmes created exclusively for the rapidly growing and youthful Caribbean population. Each week, CIN airs a diverse range of information and entertainment programmes for the large Caribbean-American community.
