King denies assault charges

LONDON (AP)

Middlesbrough striker Marlon King was charged yesterday by police with sexually assaulting and attacking a woman.

The Jamaica international, who is on loan at Middlesbrough from Wigan, allegedly attacked the unnamed 20-year-old at the Soho Revue Bar in London in December.

"He categorically denies the allegations," King's solicitor Henri Brandman said in a statement.

The 28-year-old striker made the 200-mile trip to London to celebrate scoring the winner for Hull against Middlesbrough. He switched clubs last month.

He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear at City of Westminster Magistrates Court on February 25.
