A St Elizabeth man facing firearm and housebreaking charges, after being accused of breaking into the home of popular radio disc jockey G.T. Taylor, was remanded for psychiatric evaluation in the Santa Cruz RM Court yesterday.
After remaining silent for about five minutes, Jeffery 'Yellow' Rowe, 31, of Lower Works, Black River, told Resident Magistrate Stanley Clarke that he needed help, pointing to his head.
The court heard that on February 25, this year, the accused broke into Taylor's home in Lower Works and stole more than $102,000 and the complainant's licensed firearm.
About 1:30 a.m. the following day, police received information and stopped a vehicle in which the accused was travelling. He was searched and a 9mm pistol taken from him. He was subsequently arrested and charged. He was also taken back to the house where the police recovered more than $92,000 which the accused man had buried underground. Rowe returns to court on March 23.
