Dr Garth 'Shaka Pow' McDonald - Contributed

DJ Shaka Pow has recently released a controversial single entitled Currency, a follow-up to Vybz Kartel's Money Pon Mi Mind track.

Shaka Pow's version, has broaden the scope of Money Pon Mi Mind, calling for "currency from all over the world" in this time of economic recession. The video for the track will be shot by Ezra and should be released in another two weeks.

Shaka Pow also has other projects in the mix, as his debut dancehall album entitled, Special Design, is scheduled for release soon. The album is produced by Shaka Pow's Doc Records Label and sees a collaborated effort by Producers Q45, Truck Back, Pete Foster, Murray of In The Streets Music, Scorpio, Stone Love and Kevin Blake of Iceburg Records.

Special Design album

The Special Design album is a mixture of clean dancehall music that is suitable for all audiences, young and old, and will feature collaborations with Natural Black, Jah Mason, Chrisinti, Ronnie Thwaites, Heather Cummings and Barrington Levy on a remix done in the Netherlands.

Tracks on the album will include Shaka Pow's Book, Ghetto Prescription and Rescued Me, a gospel single featuring Richard Brown. Shaka Pow is also putting together catalogues of his music for distribution and is also working on his collaboration with Junior Reid and Collie Budz for the international market.
