Kemar Bailey-Cole - file

Kemar Bailey-Cole

Date of birth: 10.1.92

Class: One

School: Old Harbour High

Events: 100 and 200 metres

PR: 100m (10.53) and 200m (22.09)

Main rivals and why: Ramone McKenzie of Calabar, in the 200m, and Dexter Lee of Herbert Morrison, in the 100m. According to Bailey-Cole they are the best in their events.

Last year's performance: Finished third in the 100m Class Two in 10.85 seconds.

Expectation this year: To reach both finals and secure a medal.

NOTE: Bailey-Cole, who has shown tremendous potential this season, justified his claim to fame by winning last weekend's Under-20 100m at Jamaica's Carifta Games Trials, running 10.53 seconds. In addition to Lee in the 100m he would face other serious challenges in St Jago's Nickel Ashmeade, who did not compete in the Carifta Trials because of injury and Richardo Powell, the anchor leg runner on Calabar's dangerous sprint relay team. It would, however, be no surprise if Bailey-Cole, who is conditioned by Carlton Solon, upsets his rivals.
