Gospel rapper, Lil iROCC Williams and one of the world's leading entertainment stations, Black Entertainment Television, (BET), will be stamping their mark on this year's Fun in the Son.
iROCC, who hails from Atlanta, Georgia, and whose moniker means "I Rely On Christ Completely," is best known for his albums, Lil iROCC Williams and The Sequel, and promises to be one of the highlights of the
concert.
Gospel success
The success of iROCC's albums and talent have been compared to that of secular rappers including Lil Bow Wow and Lil Wayne and with reason.
In 2003, at the age of 13, Lil iROCC's debut album, Lil iROCC Williams, charted on three Billboard charts - US Heatseekers at #46, US Contemporary Christian #27 and US Gospel at #26. In addition, his songs have appeared on the popular secular compilation album WOW Hits 2004 and he has since then won a number of awards, including Gospel's Choice Best Hip Hop Artiste of the Year 2006 and more. This will mark his second appearance at Fun in the Son.
Other artistes gracing the stage include Carlene Davis, Papa San, Judy Mowatt, Goddy Goddy, DJ Nicholas, Judith Gayle, Omari, Craig C and more. The day's activities range from a classic car show to a kiddies village, and BET has agreed to capture footage and conduct interviews at the gospel show. This marks yet another significant accomplishment in the seventh staging of The Best Dressed Fun in the Son.
Fun in the Son is slated for Saturday, March 21, at the University of the West Indies, Mona Bowl and starts at 10 a.m.
