Jah Vinci - Contributed
In this weekly Mus Buss Caan Buss song review feature, three musical minds will analyse a song and grade it on vocal ability, lyrics, musical arrangement and appeal. Songs that make the grade will be dubbed 'Mus Buss', while those that flop will be dumped in the 'Caan Buss' bin.
This week the Mus Buss/Caan Bus team will be reviewing Jah Vinci's Wipe Those Tears (Chimney Records.)
King Kong: "We love the variation in his voice."
Witch: "A di best mi ever hear his voice still, him show seh him can really sing on this track."
King Kong: "Yeah and mi nah bash nobody but yuh see Notnice, he must take a page out of Chimney production book. Look how di backing vocals dem add effects to his voice and the quality of di riddim overall just good. When yuh listen di song, di one that Not Nice do called Money, the production on dat nuh really hot so yuh know. Dis track just really well put together for Jah Vinci voice. Big up Not Nice."
Lady Boo: "Yuh a kill me King Kong."
King Kong: Wid wha? A mi song, a mi ring tone dis."
Lady Boo: "Mi really like it though, him voice sound really powerful compare to di other songs him do, even though mi love Watch Yuh Friend."
Witch: "There's just something bout this song. It sell off from the intro when him a hit di note dem and di riddim just bad. It smooth and different from others. Mi see a big hit for Jah Vinci from dis."
King Kong: "We haffi find out wha relationship him have wid him father cause is the second song him a talk about a father running his son from his house. A real message, ghetto yutes wipe the tears from your eyes, dat tune yah tek. It nice to hear him singing bout other things, showing his versatility, him fi do more of dese songs and not necessarily bout the gun."
Witch: "Well, a song like dis can really connect wid di yutes. Mi see people a connect wid it already and di riddim helps to just make yuh wanna meditate."
Lady Boo: "Wha mi a seh, I prefer him as dem kinda conscious kinda artistes dan the bag of gun gun dis and gun gun dat. Even when him sing Weh Dem A Go, is almost like yuh a hear Ryno and yuh nah really hear him but dis one mi really hear Jah Vinci maturing as an artiste and mi like dat."
King Kong: "Is clearly one of di most talented persons from Empire as it relates to raw talent without auto-tuned talent and mi nah bash nobody."
Witch: "Yes, Jah Vinci mus follow dis voice and don't be afraid to sing; yuh have a good voice belt it out. Too much people waan deejay and nuh know seh yuh have a talent as a singer. Use it, don't be afraid of it. This mellow and ting and mi like it. So we buss it or not?"
King Kong: "Dah song yah buss, good good work, both di artiste and di producer."
Lady Boo: "Powerful message, powerful song, very good production, hence a buss. Mi really feel it can play on radio and it can play inna dance."
Witch: "Yeah, it have street cred, it have radio play, the production maaaad, everything good bout it, is an instant go."
