A game of ludo between two men turned ugly when one of them decided that losing was just not his thing. The ensuing brawl landed them before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Charged with unlawful wounding is Richard Millwood.
Millwood pleaded guilty with explanation to the charge and told the court that he was playing a game of ludo with the complainant and another man. He said he won the game and jokingly made fun of the complainant, who then attacked him. He admitted that he retaliated.
He told the court, "Wi a play ludo, your honour, two bills a game. Mi win di first game and den a next man come join wi. Mi waan four fi go in an him want one, so mi throw mi four and win. Millwood added, "All di while im win mi and mi nuh feel no way when him win, mi jus go mi yard."
Senior Resident Magistrate Glen Brown chastised the men for gambling and sentenced Millwood to pay $5,000 or serve 10 days in jail.
