Defending champions Waterhouse booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Flow Champions Cup all-island knockout football competition following a 6-0 trouncing of Village United yesterday at the Waterhouse Mini-Stadium.

A hat-trick from Jermaine Anderson, a double from Kevin Lamey and Damion Williams gave Waterhouse a convincing victory. Anderson scored in the 31st, 54th, and from an 86th-minute penalty. Lamey delivered his double in the 78th minute and in time-added for stoppages, while Damion Williams scored in the 20th.

Last year's beaten finalists, Tivoli Gardens, got by Reno 1-0 with a 41st-minute goal from Roy Forbes.

The Red Brigade, Boys' Town, continued their winning streak defeating the Stars of the East, Harbour View United, 2-0. Daemon Benjamin scored for Boys' Town in the 27th minute and George Vernal in the 32nd.

Defeated

The lone non-premier league team Duhaney Park's run was short-lived as they were defeated 4-0 with doubles from captain Devon Hodges and striker Valentine Gardener. Hodges scored the first of his two goals for the St Catherine-based premier league team in the 15th minute when he bolted into the six-yard box to finish a pass. Duhaney Park almost equalised with a kick from Ricardo Smith that was gallantly saved by goalkeeper Omar Williams.

Just a minute before the close of the half, Hodges made a swift pass to Valentine Gardener at the mouth of the goal and he scored, pushing Rivoli's lead to 2-0.

In the second half, Duhaney Park tried hard to score, but Rivoli thwarted their efforts until Gardener scored a soft goal in the 88th minute to give Rivoli a 3-0 advantage.

Two minutes later, Hodges secured the fourth and final goal.

Overall, it was a good performance, said Rivoli's technical director Bradley Stewart.

"The Duhaney Park team was a little bit on the tired side. They tried to come forward in numbers to create goal-scoring opportunities so they left themselves a bit vulnerable at the back. As a result, we were able to exploit this," he said.

Knocked out

Christopher Russell of Duhaney Park stated that despite being knocked out of the competition, it was a good run for the team.

"I thought that we didn't keep our shape," said Russell

"We had a good 25 minutes in the first half and we were matching up with them. But after that we lost our discipline and our shape and it all went to pieces."
