The more than 2,000lb of compressed ganja that was seized in Westmoreland. - dalton laing
The Narcotics police and lawmen in Whitehouse, Westmoreland, are claiming that they have made a substantial dent in the guns-for-drugs trade between Jamaica and Haiti after a large quantity of ganja was seized on Wednesday.
Acting on intelligence, the joint group went to bushes in Ackingdom, near Whitehouse, where 44 packages of compressed ganja wrapped in black plastic and cellophane tape, weighing approximately 2,400lb, were found covered under a piece of tarpaulin.
Experts from the Narcotics division say the drug, which they believe was ready for export, attracts a street value of approximately $2,250,000.
No one was arrested during the operation.
