When will the senseless killings stop?
Though this has become a daily question, it seems there is no end in sight to the bloodletting that continues to mar our nation.
A story published in Tuesday's edition of THE STAR depicted another tragic story of persons losing their lives for no just reason.
According to the story, the security forces were kept busy in a St Andrew community following the shooting deaths of four persons in separate but related incidents.
Incidents like these only play with one's imagination and leave you to wonder what may have sparked those behind these attacks to pick up guns and go and take a life.
In fact, these cases are usually war-related so the next question is how do we help these communities in which such violence occur oh so often?
A million and one suggestions can be posed as answers to this problem, however, execution of those suggested methods all lie within the hands of those governing the country.
Crime and violence have been long-standing thorns in our sides and it is only natural that strong measures be put in place to combat these issues.
It is no secret that most citizens of this country think that not much is being done to reduce the level of crime which does nothing but have a negative and scary impact of their lives.
It is time for the government of our beloved island to put a decisive foot forward and make their presence felt in the minds of those that make it their hobby to leave us cowering in fear.
